1256 Movement is a 501c3 tax-exempt corporation funded by private and public donations in order to pay a land reparation of approximately $10,000 for 1,256 black families as restitution for land and homes destroyed by white mobs with a blind eye by Tulsa city police, fire, and politicians in the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Since insurance claims were blocked in courts for years, no reparations were ever paid to victims of the massacre and destruction, private citizens, calling on the city of Tulsa in 2020 to participate in selling Tulsa Development Authority lands back to black families to build homes, replacing the 1,256 homes that were destroyed.
