2024 Annual Report

What is 1256 Movement about to do in 2025?

Applicants

We are asking applicants who submitted applications between 2020-2023 and were not accepted, to re-apply here. In 2025, our plan is to organize applications quarterly and make awards four times in the year. So if you do not get accepted in the first quarter of 2025, we’ll roll your application to the next quarter or we’ll let you know that your application is not aligned with our mission. Some applications don’t work out for various reasons but we have served twenty-five families and homes since the non-profit was begun, and we added three new roofs to homes in 2024. We plan to scale up and our goal is 48 families/homes in 2025. We are strategically working toward this goal with our board and donors. One of the most important changes for 2025 is we have added an executive director, Chukwuso Oputa. You can read more about him in our annual report.

Donors

Thank you to more than one hundred donors who have helped convey 200,000 in funds for 25 families since 1256 Movement began. Transparency is important, so we publish our annual reports, showing to the penny all donations and funds conveyed each year. We are registered with Candid, formerly Guidestar, and further non-profit accountability can be found here.

I am a home builder in Northeastern Oklahoma and president of 1256Movement.org. Proceeds from my latest book published in 2023, Prodigals, benefit this nonprofit dedicated to reparations of racial trauma in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Taylor is author of several books, including a coauthored work with Randy Harris titled Living Jesus. He and his wife, Jill, have three adult children, Ashley, Anna, and Jacob, for whom Prodigals is dedicated. I’ve been a writer for 30 years, a professional writer and editor for most of those years. No matter what other jobs I’ve done, I’ve continued to write. I’m the author, co-author, editor, or ghostwriter of many books you can see here. You’ll find a lot of topics I’ve written about listed and I've tried to categorize them so there should be bread crumbs for you to follow your interests. I’m 2024, I’ll celebrate 20 years of blogging. You can also find lots of free articles I’ve published in various magazines if you search my name at Christianity Today, Sojourners, and Wineskins. I wrote many book reviews for Publishers Weekly some years back but most of the reviews are not named reviews for sake of objectivity.
